5 Fire Building Principles

1. Gather dead, dry sticks of various Sizes - Look up! Don't pick them up off ground. Look for sticks that have been caught in the branches of trees and scrubs.
2. Heat Rises. Build your fire from the bottom up. Put Tinderstix at the bottom.
3. Slowly add sticks to the fire. Start with smaller sticks and add larger ones as fire grows.
4. Fire Needs Oxygen. Don't pack sticks too tight!
5. Create a glowing coal base. Have enough sticks on hand to keep adding fuel for the life of the fire.
